2. THE EDITOR OF APEX PHILLATELIC AUCTIONS NOTES (MR RICK WARREN AND TIM FRANCIS0
There ,it’s and gone. As eagerly anticipated as English summer, or English World Cup campaogn-and over just as qickly from 8th May to 15th May the London 2010 show at the Busines Design Centre was, according to early reports ” better then ecpected”. Figures can be trawled up from the depths to show it was a greater or kesser event, dependent on what the depictor wishes to depict. From an Apex point of view, we were there to display our sales 100 and 101 and to wave the flag, direct commerce or selling ,was incidental. ………etc……………………………………..etc. And the Auction? Taking the two parts together, sales well over 500.000 poundsterlings, a record for this firm. Yes, of coursed we are pleased with it. More than that,we pleaseed with the contiuing confirmation of the strenght of stamp market. Not everfything sold, but there were no obvious weak part of the sale. Collections went well, messy boxes went well, good qulity single items went well. The on-going difficulty, as ever, is to get enough material for the next event.
Our July sales-such as this one-are invitably the trickiest onees for us to put together . From July to November we have four months to work it, from November to April five …etc…etc…………………………………Every sales is a mix of old lots and new lots, our material and third party vendor’s stamp. etc……etc………..There ia N EXCELLENT gb gREAT bRITAIN CONTENT, WITH SEVERAL VERY RARE PIECES, AROUND 200 LOTS OF BETTER cOMMONWEALTH SETS AND SINGLE ( ALWAY THE HARDEST THINGS TO FIND) PLUS DOZENS OF ORIGINAL MIXED lots and collections together the property of about 40 different vendor. etc….etc………etc………..Frankly ,dunno, save to suggest that it would be to m uch hard work for anyone to tryto corner the market and push ther price up. Thus the market value will alway x % of the catalogue value demand for stamps like this one is one of that certainities. Added to which ,they are still cheap, both absolutly and relatively. Forgeries are all but unknown. You might consider their international appeal, low world-wide value spread and ease of probability. I can think of worse things to put your money into, gouvernment are one of them…etc….etc..
